Synopsis

Facing a hydroelectric dam development in their territory, the Kichwa communities of Santa Clara fight back. 'Piatua Resists' follows the grassroots struggle and legal process to defend the Piatúa river by the indigenous Kichwa communities of Santa Clara, Pastaza in the Ecuadorian Amazon. The construction of the dam by GENEFRAN SA would seriously impact the flow of the Piatúa river and the communities living on its banks, in one of the most biodiverse regions of the planet.
