At the 2019 Global Climate Strike, we saw over 7 million people across the world step out and step up in the name of climate justice. 350,000+ of those were in our own backyard here in Australia. While many of them fight for their tomorrow, we fight for our today. Across the Pacific, many places that we call home endure a perpetual state of climate emergency. In spite of this, we draw strength and resilience from our indigenous knowledge and traditions to fight back against the climate crisis. We are committed to building a Pacific that is secure, peaceful and prosperous. In doing so, we demand true climate leadership by moving away from fossil fuels and embracing a 100% renewable energy future, a future where our people are able to live free, healthy and productive lives. The fight for our survival certainly does not end here. As our homes in the Pacific and our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander brothers and sisters remain on the frontlines of climate change, we as diaspora will remain on the forefront of climate action!
